I think it's the hair cut.
Have you ever gone to a hair salon and asked the barber to "thin out" your hair? (I don't know if it's called that, but that's what I say in Chinese)
They use this razor looking thing and start running it through your hair. It feels a little like someone pulling onto your hair.
When it's done, your hair has very less volume and becomes "piecey". (And a little snip snip with the scissors too)

I know..but that kind of "thin out" really damages my hair..it makes my hair fragile and easy to break
